This is the shot I fancied of First Cymru’s new decker.Morriston Blockbusters is now closed sadly.I delivered Blockbusters’ internal packages for a long time and remember the excitement of was it the latest release I was bringing ,Video players were initially about £700 though dropped as low as £25 before they were phased out. Then when Sky tv started competing for audiences and all the supermarkets could sell new films and the business started suffering. They did fight back though the competition grew with Amazon,Love Film and Netflix. All of whom have played their part in the rundown of the pub trade too.
Anyway back to the picand I’d liken Woodfield Street to the old high streets in the Midlands.Old brick buildings with bright, modern fronts.Takeaways and barber shops a plenty. The Romanello family of Gorseinon have just added to their chain of Roma fish bars with one in Woodfield St.Lovely food too -they’ll be as famous as Harry Ramsden one day!Another gent’s barber has opened making it about 7 now.I needed a trim about two weeks back and paid £5 with beard trim in Morriston. You can pay up to about £13 in some places
so worth checking Morriston when the need arises next!!
The road is a bit narrow and a bit of a squeeze when two big vehicles pass.A nightmare to deliver too,I have, many times ! Once home to a load of independent companies all gone now though still plenty of photo opportunities if you like First Cymru or commercial vehicles though.Have a walk if you find you’re near – you may well spot something good…..
